Boston Athletic Soccer Club begins futsal program at its youth academy

The Boston Athletic Soccer Club will introduce futsal into its youth and teen programs starting in January.
Futsal was originally invented in 1930 in Uruguay, yet the sport has grown its popularity through South America.

Brazil is widely considered the home of futsal for its success in the sport at a competitive level. In the United States, futsal was originally introduced at an organized level in 1981 through United States Futsal.

Futsal is distinctive from the outdoor game. It is much faster and every player gets involved in the action.
The number of touches, quick decision situations, technical ability needed to get out of small spaces, playing under pressure and speed of play, to name a few.

We believe that futsal was what is missing to complement our club, said Faghyner Ribeiro, Director of Soccer at Boston Athletic.
We're very happy to be able to offer the best for kids, added João Henrique, coach of the professional team, with a B license from CBF (Brazilian Football Confederation).

In the United States, futsal was originally introduced on an organized level in 1981 through Futsal USA.
Training will take place every Monday and Wednesday from 6 to 8 pm.
